Greentop LLC is an innovative design and manufacturing corporation specializing in the production of insulated planters with stone exteriors. The Greentop planter system is the result of understanding the needs of architects and designers to develop a planter that is both lightweight and insulated with a stone exterior. The ECOLITE and TERRAFIRM series planters are constructed from structurally insulated panels called SIPs. The insulation provided by these planters protects plants from root damage caused by temperature extremes.
Greentop planters have been custom engineered for use on green roofs with root invasive plants. Diversity is an important consideration in green roof design. With our ECOLITE ‘green roof’ planters, invasives such as bamboo can be introduced without concern for migrating root systems.

INNOVATION IN DESIGN
The framework of the Greentop planters are structurally insulated panels called SIPs. The framework is bonded to a stone exterior panel of granite, limestone, slate, or marble. This exterior stone SIP provides an additional insulation value of R-5 to R-10. The framework and stone panels are incredibly strong and light in weight.
PLANT PROTECTION
Greentop planter frames bonded with stone exterior panels produce superior insulation values, which means that your plantings are protected from the hardships of nature.
In cold weather climates, roots are damaged in planters that are not insulated. Our planters protect roots from damage during rapid temperature fluctuations in cold weather.
In warm weather climates, Greentop planters provide the insulation necessary to moderate soil temperatures and prevent excessive moisture loss.
LIGHTWEIGHT
Our planters are a fraction of the weight of traditional stone planters. The ECOLITE planter with granite veneer exterior weighs only 8 lbs./sq. ft.!
Greentop planters are ideal when weight loads are a concern on rooftops, terraces and green roofs.
ECOLITE & TERRAFIRM PLANTERS
ECOLITE series planters are constructed from aluminum-skin SIPs. They are recommended for plantings that do not exceed 8’ in height because of their light weight.
TERRAFIRM series planters are constructed from cement board SIPs and are ideal for taller plantings (15’-20’) that require more weight to anchor plants.
EXPANDABLE
Greentop planters are expandable to virtually any square or rectangular dimension or configuration. Our on-site panel construction makes possible the installation of large planters in areas of limited access.
GREEN ROOF COMPATIBLE
The ECOLITE planter with our “root stop” drainage system is designed for use with root invasive plants on green roofs. Design interest and biodiversity can be incorporated into any green roof without concern for root migration.
Greentop planters are ecologically sound – made of 100% recycled materials and natural products.
